Description & Requirements

As a Health Care Consulting Intern, you will gain valuable experience and exposure to a variety of health care projects, as well as being able to test your technical know-how. You will work alongside our senior staff and management personnel, learning from their experience as you develop your skill set.

Depending on local office needs, internships are available in audit, tax, consulting or a combination and can be part-time or full-time.  Generally, spring semester internships run from mid-January through April 15th, summer internships can typically run from June through mid-August and fall semester internships can typically run through mid- August through December. 

What You Will Do:

  • Preparation of Medicare/Medicaid cost reports and related engagements.
  • Manage multiple consulting engagements to deliver unmatched client service.
  • Support existing client project teams with analytical and reporting needs.
  • Develop and maintain productive working relationships with engagement team members and client personnel at all levels.
  • Work with clients and other BKD team members to define and recommend solutions.
  • Assist on other healthcare assurance or consulting engagements as needed

  • Solid technical accounting knowledge
  • Effective time management
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong computer skills preferred, including Microsoft Office suite
  • Ability to work well with a team as well as independently
  • Problem-solving attitude
  • Willingness to take initiative
  • Close attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure and against deadlines.
  • Intern candidates must be working toward an accounting degree and CPA exam eligibility
  • Maintaining a GPA of 3.25 or higher (in major and overall) preferred
